Summer 2008

In Science during the summer term we are learning all about plants. The children have worked together to design various experiments to test what conditions plants need to germinate and grow. This dovetails nicely with our Geography work on the water cycle and how we use water.

In Literacy we are enjoying creating some dramatic interpretations of traditional tales and using this work to inspire our writing of play scripts. We have kept our hands and brains busy using origami to investigate 3D shapes in Numeracy as well as to make some more artistic creations.

Spring 2008

Following on from our whole-school WWII evacuation day, Elm class have been studying more about what life was like during the war. We had a visit from Mr Stok of the Yeovil Museum Service who brought history to life with some fantastic artefacts and activities from the period.

Autumn 2007

Class three have settled into Key Stage 2 well and are enjoying the new challenges it brings. In Numeracy, we have been studying Origami, the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. The children have greatly enjoyed the hands on activities and we have also used Origami as a basis for writing instructions in Literacy.

In the wider curriculum, we have been studying maps and the children are proud to show off their best work.
