Summer
2008
Oak
class took part in the Somerset Music Spectacular just before
the Easter holidays along with Willow class and a lot of other
primary and secondary schools. The year 6 played their ukulele
and the year five sang, both year groups also took part in the
finale. We spent the afternoon rehearsing before the performance
in the evening - well done both classes.
This term has also seen a delivery of more outdoor play equipment,
the year five play leaders have spent time sorting it out and
ensuring that it is put away at the end of the day.
We are now looking forward to a busy summer term with lots of
sporting activities ahead of us, these include cricket and athletics.
Our visit to Pinkery is beginning to loom once more, the year
fives will be planning for that after half term as they go during
the second week back next term.
Spring 2008
When we came back after the Christmas holidays we had a visit
from Mr Toby Stok from the Somerset County Council Museum to
talk to us about life during the Second World War. All the class
came dressed in period costume. Mr Stok was in an army uniform
and he bought a huge variety of items that were used during
the Second World War. We had a great day marching, dressing
up in army uniforms and even fire fighting!
In
literacy we have been writing myths, looking closely at the
main features of myths and legends and using these "ingredients"
to write their own. When we had completed them we went over
to Mr Parkers class to read them as they were in the process
of writing their own myths and said that they would like to
listen to ours.
Autumn
2007
We have been very busy in Oak class since the beginning of the
term. Pinkery has been a real highlight for all the year fives,
they now can't wait until next year when they can go for the
full five days! We have welcomed three new children into the
class and they have all settled in really well.
We have written poems, produced leaflets on Healthy Eating,
researched countries helped by the charity Action Aid and had
some rugby coaching as well as working hard in both literacy
and numeracy.
