Message
from the Headteacher
I have
been at High Ham since September 2005 and I have found the school
to be an extremely welcoming place, where everyone works together
for the good of the children. The children at High Ham are kind
and polite and always try their best, the staff and governors
are tremendously supportive and everyone works really well together
as a team. We have superb support from 'The Friends' of the
school, who raise money to pay for all of the extra's which
make such a difference to the curriculum. We have a School Council
who are helping to take the school forward and can be relied
upon to set a good example to other children in the school.
We are also fortunate to be a Church School and benefit from
regular visits to the local Church as well as weekly visitors
to take Collective Worship each week. Our on site playschool
has an excellent reputation and prepares the children for a
smooth transition into full time education.

The staff
and governors wrote a new ethos statement, which has also been
developed by the children. The school council were asked to
provide their own idea of what is special about High Ham.
We
are proud of our school because :-
- We
specialise in many sports and are very successful in
all of them.
- We
are a very polite school and we have good manners all
of the time.
- We
are also very good at music and some people are so good
they are on their grade 4.
- We
also have the most excellent teachers and staff in the
world and are very grateful that they are there to help
us.

At
High Ham we are working together within a Church of
England School to create a happy, secure and stimulating
environment which fosters a Christian foundation for
life long learning.

We have
an extensive range of facilities which include a computer suite,
large hall, two playgrounds, large field as well as six extremely
well resourced classrooms which all include an interactive whiteboard.
Our most recent edition is our eco-classroom which is made of
sustainable materials and provides a healthy teaching space.
We have a large number of after school clubs and activities
which the children enjoy. In January this year, our year six
Lego Robotics team got through to the National finals, the only
Somerset Primary School, so we were very proud of their achievement.
Our curriculum is full of varied and interesting activities
as the teachers take care to plan the activities to meet the
children's needs. We have also recently introduced specialist
teaching in Music and French from year one, which is proving
particularly successful.
If after
looking at our web site or reading our on line prospectus you
have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact
the school, any member of our team would be happy to help. For
new Reception children, in the Summer term before children start
school we hold a Parent's Meeting and give parents an opportunity
to look around the school. If you are thinking of moving into
the area and changing your child's school at any other time
of year then please contact the school office and we will arrange
a suitable time for you to have a look around the school.

We are
extremely proud of all the things which the children achieve
out of school as well as in school. In Collective Worship we
have been celebrating 'the stars of High Ham' and have been
having a 'Star of the Day' sticker. Here are a selction of photographs
which represent some of the activities the children do:
