British Values

During the school year we complete a wide range of activities which promote Britsh Values, some of which are found on our twitter feeds.

Schools are required to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development of their pupils. As part of this, your school should actively promote the fundamental British values of:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs

All underpinned by equality of opportunity for all.

This is set out in the Department for Education’s guidance on promoting British values in maintained schools

Difference is protected under British law and the Equality Act identifies specific protected characteristics. It is our duty to develop and deepen pupils’ understanding of the fundamental British values. To support equality of opportunity and to promote an inclusive ethos where pupils can thrive together, understanding that difference is a positive, not a negative, and that individual characteristics make a person unique, we use the No Outsiders scheme.

We ensure we remind the children throughout their school life of the need to:

We aim to nurture our children on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British Society and to the world.
